Children staying all day join children arriving for the afternoon for games and fun followed by a packed lunch. The children are able to get used to eating together in a group situation, which encourages them to communicate with their peers over a healthy lunch.
After lunch all children participate in a quiet time with adults to allow their lunch to digest and bodies rest.
Free play both inside and outside.
Story time and sing along.

During our week the older children take part in quiet directed sessions, concentrating on activities planned to prepare children for Reception Class. Activities include PE, not only for physical development, but also to ensure children can dress themselves and look after their belongings. Pre-reading skills are promoted in the book corner with longer stories, and with word and picture games, rhyme, rhythm and phonic work, and lots of discussion.
Each child has ownership of a PK big book, that includes pictures, photographs, observations and tracks their development while at PK Preschool.
